Mesotherapy: A Safer Fat/Cellulite Reduction Alternative
You’ve tried every diet; you’ve tried every exercise. You’ve slathered on every cream, lotion or potion that shows even the remotest chance of success, and after all that, you’re still fighting the battle of the bulge. You’re not alone. Even with diet and exercise, stubborn fatty cellulite pockets in the hips, buttocks and thighs are nearly impossible to eliminate with any of those methods. Easily recognized by its dimpled, ‘cottage-cheese’ appearance, cellulite fat (Dermatomyoliposclerosis) affects over 90% of women at some point in their lives, but is not caused by being overweight, as is commonly believed. Men can get cellulite, as well, but are less prone than women because a man’s fat cells are distributed more evenly on his body than that of a woman’s.
Mesotherapy is a non-surgical medical therapy which originated in France in 1952 that is finding greater acceptance in the U.S. as a fat-burning, cellulite-reducing delivery system. As a fat-shrinker, Mesotherapy reduces belly fat, saddlebags, bra bulge, double-chins, and fat deposits below the eyes. Mesotherapy is one of only a few treatments currently available, outside of surgery or liposuction, which has shown any real ability to reduce cellulite deposits.
What is Mesotherapy, Exactly?
Mesotherapy involves multiple microinjections into the mesodermal (middle) layer of the skin, of a customized formulation of medications, vitamins and amino acids. Once the formulation is absorbed by the mesodermal layer, it stimulates the fat cells to shed fatty acids and stored water, and reduces the size of the fat cells in the treated area. The removed fatty fluids are then excreted naturally in the body’s waste. This process takes place over a period of 10 or more weeks, giving the body adequate time to purge the excess fat from the body in a gradual and safe manner.
Because the needles used are tiny, Mesotherapy injections are practically painless. Ten to fifteen (for more severe cellulite) once-a-week sessions are generally recommended to achieve optimal results, although a visible response to therapy is generally seen after three to five sessions.

What is Botox?
Botox is derived from the bacterium clostridium botulinum. It has been used for many years for medical reasons and is completely safe. In 2002, the FDA (Food & Drug Administration) approved Botox for cosmetic purposes. Botox is diluted and injected, actually blocking the nerve that contracts the muscle. This causes a relaxation of the muscles and results in a softening of the expression lines. In 2005, almost 3.3 million procedures were performed with FDA-approved BOTOX® Cosmetic.
Botox injections for wrinkles gradually start to soften the facial lines within three days, and the full therapeutic effect is visible in ten to fourteen days. Botox is injected with a tiny needle and is no more painful than a pinprick. No anesthesia is necessary. Some people need a touch-up to achieve the full desired effect, given ten to fourteen days after the first treatment. An initial Botox treatment lasts approximately four months. With reapplication, the results begin to last longer. When combined with other cosmetic enhancements, the Botox results are even more profound and longer lasting.
No one can tell that you've had Botox treatment. The results are gradual and subtle and look completely natural. Most people just look less tired and stressed. When the frown lines are treated, people look less like they're angry or scowling. Why not look more relaxed, better-rested, and happier today!
One 10-minute treatment of a few tiny injections and within days there's a noticeable improvement in moderate to severe frown lines between the brows, which can last up to 6 months.
Injectable fillers remove the lines in your face that cause the appearance of wrinkles. Results are immediate and very soft and beautiful. Specific areas for treatment include superficial lines, smile lines and forehead lines.

The Contour Thread™ lift is a recently developed, non-invasive procedure that uses barbed sutures to tighten and smooth out drooping cheeks, lift sagging eyebrows, and achieve greater symmetry in the brows and the face. The Contour Thread™ lift is considered a safe, effective alternative for people who want to combat the signs of aging without undergoing a full-blown surgical procedure.
In a Contour Thread™ lift procedure, the patient receives local anesthesia around the area of the incisions. After the patient has been anesthetized, the surgeon makes tiny incisions around the hairline and inserts needles with barbed sutures. The tiny barbs on one end of the thread allow the sutures to grab and lift the skin from below the surface once they're in place. Next, the surgeon adjusts the skin in consultation with the patient, who is viewing the procedure in a mirror. Once the desired look has been achieved, the surgeon uses the barbs at the other end of the thread to anchor the suture and keep the facial tissue in place. Because the sutures remain embedded beneath the skin, the patient can return for adjustments as desired after the initial procedure.
The Contour Thread™ lift is known in some circles as a "lunchtime facelift" because it can be performed in an hour or less, and the patient can go home immediately following the procedure. Patients may experience minor swelling, bruising, and occasionally a headache, which can be relieved with over-the-counter medications. The downtime for recovery can be four to seven days, but some patients end up going back to work and their regular activities the very next day. Because this is such a new procedure (Contour Threads™ were approved for use in this manner by the Food and Drug Administration in September 2004).
